Continuing Education Requirements For A CFP

Certified Financial Planners are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education during each two-year period. The ending date of each period is the final day of the month that certification renewal for a CFP is due. The CE requirement is effective immediately upon initial certification. The number of CE hours for a newly certified CFP is prorated for an initial certification period of less than two calendar years. Any CE hours in excess of the requirement may not be applied to subsequent reporting periods. CE hours earned for any one program may not be split between two reporting periods.

In each reporting period, 2 of the required hours must be obtained from a pre-approved program on CFP Board'sCode of Ethics orPractice Standards. No exceptions are made. The remaining 28 hours consist of programs related to any of the accepted subject topics related to investment, tax, insurance, estate, or retirement matters.

A CFP may complete anonline continuing course.

Courses offered by colleges and universities (including community colleges) may be accepted if they cover topics listed in the Subject Topics Accepted for CE Credit. Each semester credit equals 15 CE hours and each college quarter credit equals 10 CE hours for a CFP. Therefore, a course having 3 semester credits provides 45 hours of CE. Both credit and non-credit courses may be accepted. For non-credit courses, each 50-minute class session may be counted as one CE hour.

Programs provided by state and local bar associations, Certified Public Accountant societies, Financial Planning Association chapters, Society of Financial Service Professionals chapters, Association for Investment Management and Research chapters, state boards of accountancy, state insurance commissions, and estate planning councils will be accepted for CE credits, provided topics covered are listed in the CFP Board's Subject Topics Accepted for CE Credit.

Anincome tax course qualifies for CE credit.

CE hours from programs registered with CFP Board are reported for a CFP by the CE sponsor. CE programs not registered with CFP Board may be reported online by a CFP with payment of a nonrefundable processing fee to cover the cost of review. CE sponsors are encouraged to register CE programs with CFP Board. The sponsor of a CE course will convey if the program has been registered and the number of CE hours that the CFP Board has granted for the course. A list of registered CE sponsors and programs is available on the CFP Board's Web site. Programs designed to meet CFP Board's two-hour Code of Ethics and/or Practice Standards requirement have additional requirements and must be approved by CFP Board before they will be accepted.

Insurance Continuing Education - Flood Insurance Application

The APPLICATION for flood insurance is, understandably, a little more complicated than some of the other property and casualty policy applications as it covers a specific risk on property that must be identified although the range of buildings and property can run the gamut.  Because of this need to be precise, this form must be completed only in the correct fashion as there is no room for guessing.

This Application form or a similar form used for WYO companies, must be used for all flood policies except the Preferred Risk Policy.  The NFIP Flood Insurance Application form, or a similar form for WYO companies, must be used for all flood insurance policies except the Preferred Risk Policy.

The Application form must be completed accurately as it contains the necessary information required by statutory intent and it provides the instructions in respect to the rating of the different building types.

The Application provides the initial information so that the flood insurance rate can be properly applied to the building, particularly as to whether the building is Post-FIRM construction or Pre-FIRM construction; and provides information as to building occupancy, building type, basement type and elevated building type.

The flood risk Zone must also be determined as well as the elevation of the building.

Continuing Education in The Management Role

Having educated yourself to degree level and beyond is time consuming and demanding however, the end result is what drives a large number of people to succeed and become managing directors and CEO’s of large companies. It is important to remember smaller companies with less staff still play an important role in a countries economic growth and productivity. If you are a manager or CEO, the responsibility is the same whether you manage hundreds of staff or just a few. The result is continued growth in the market place, a happy productive staff team and most importantly survival in a very hostile business world.

We are aware of the current financial crisis, the ups and downs of global markets having a direct affect on all companies. Once again, the difference of a large or small company is very little in as much as survival rate and the ability to operate from month to month.

In the ever-changing market, the abilities of the managing director or CEO are being tested from day to day.

It has become imperative for such educated people to continue their education. The changing market, trends and specific needs of individuals and the staff team as a whole are becoming very demanding, if the current CEO’s and managing directors do not continue their education they run the risk of being left behind or even replaced by a more educated more up to date candidate.

A managing director or CEO will have to concentrate on some key areas of continued education, such as human resources, changing markets and the market place, health and safety and other more individual specific courses linked to their chosen area of expertise.

The modern progressive and dynamic staff teams are very thirsty for knowledge and continued education.

This is time consuming in its self. The HR department also needs to continue their education to keep abreast of trends, legal requirements and stopping stagnation within the work force. The new modern HR department will have an aggressive and at times daunting continued educational target. Without a continued education program, a staff team would simply remain at a standstill, staff members would not be able to continue their growth within the company and then costly advertising campaign would have to search for suitable candidates to fill the void.

All managing directors or CEO’s know internal promotions are better for the growth of the company as they make staff feel valued and promote positive thinking within the team to be more forward progressive thinkers. If they see colleagues advance in their careers, then they hopefully will have the drive and ambition to continue their individual education to succeed and move up the corporate ladder.

It is important to remember that with continued education comes change. This can mean many things however, two key areas are a move for the manager or CEO to pastures new if their individual growth requires new more challenging roles or complete organizational re-structure so continued education can succeed.

The word for continuing education for business managers in Danish is Efteruddannelse for virksomhedsledere. Click on this link to find one of the best websites dedicated to that. It is in Danish but Google Translate can help you with the translation. If you would like to read about continuing education for professional engineers, read this article.

Physical Therapy Continuing Education: Rehah Post Fai Surgery

Physical Therapy Continuing Education recently interviewed a Hip Surgery Rehab Expert about his process for rehabbing people post FAI Hip surgery.

Here are some of his answers:

Hip Surgery Rehab Expert:That being said he asked the patients to stay at least four to five days following the surgery, come twice a day, really get hands on as far as whats involved with the rehab, have a thorough understanding of that rehab process. The more times that patient can hear and have the rehab performed on them the more theyre gonna remember once they leave.

We couldnt always rely on if the patient was going back somewhere where there was a therapist available or they didnt have the means to go to therapy following this, so we also tried to make the rehab process as much possible for the patient to perform on their own with just some follow-up care as needed.

So, our main hip surgeon, when he came out here he had for the most part the same population and so he adopted that philosophy. He asked that the patients stay at least four to five days, to get in twice a day while theyre out here and we go through their specific program with them.

They get treated twice a day and then once they leave here they have the information to contact us via email, phone call to continue up with either their therapist or once they leave here their therapist or they themselves can follow-up with us.

Because our hips surgeon's practice is just exploding we did bring on an athletic trainer who has allowed us to communicate more openly with these patients and the therapists once they leave here. So, we have one full staff person dedicated purely to communicating with the patients and the therapists once they leave.

Interviewer: Excellent. And then follow-up. Do people actually come back to Vail for reassessment or how does that side of things work?

Hip Surgery Rehab Expert:Yes. What well do is theyll stay here four to five days, and what we found is that a lot of patients will stay a little bit longer. Weve seen more and more people dedicating two weeks out here. Obviously its Vail and theres some expense with spending the days out here and the nights out here, so we understand that, but some patients have made the they put the effort into finding one of the best physicians in the world doing the surgery in the rehab facility they figure they might as well spend a little extra money and stay out here. So, they are staying anywhere from four days to two weeks, three weeks up to some patients staying their whole rehab process.

That being said, even if they leave after four or five days we have them come back at probably about six to eight weeks which is right around the time when theyre starting to get more into their functional activities. Kind of going from phase two into phase three of their rehab. Thats around the time that we ask them to come back, around that six to eight week mark and/or they will come back at around 12 weeks.

C.A.

Bernadette was diagnosed with breast cancer in Oregon.  Her doctor in Oregon told her that she needed surgery as soon as possible.  However, since she was not employed and had no insurance, she decided to move back home to Indiana.

She found a job in Indianapolis, but it had no benefits.  Therefore she applied for an individual major medical policy.  She did not tell the agent about her cancer and the policy was issued on a standard basis with no riders.

60 days after the policy was issued she had a  "routine" mammogram" which "discovered"

(Continued from previous page) the cancer.  She told the radiologist at the clinic that she had had a mammogram about a year earlier, at a public health clinic.  She did not mention the finding, however.  She was immediately admitted to a hospital in Indianapolis and a mastectomy was performed.

During a routine claims review, the insurer sent an inquiry to the Public Health Service in Oregon, which duly reported the earlier findings.  Based upon these findings, the insurer canceled the policy based upon a material misrepresentation and refused to pay for any of the medical costs.

Comparative Religions and Political Correctness - The Seeds of an Enemy?

It is hard to get anyone to have faith in a God they cannot see but it is no harder than asking someone to show you the wind. No one can show us the wind but everyone can see the effects of it. I live in the land of Hurricane Katrina and no one needs to tell me about the effects of the wind.

Faith in God and the finished work of his Son as a substitution for us on the cross has had the effect of changing lives for twenty centuries now but for the unbeliever it's still just so much talk of religion.

The Bible speaks of a God who is willing to be personal with man and of a Savior who intervenes in the affairs of men to give them eternal life. Rather than making brash statements of his connection to God and then leaving the scene as every other so called savior or prophet has done, Jesus Christ backed up his claims with things no one else would even dare to claim.

His power to heal the deaf, dumb and blind was a lead in to several people being resurrected from the dead including Lazarus who had been dead for three days. The final capstone that sealed his complete authority over death and his complete Lordship over life was his own resurrection.

The fact that some people would deny his resurrection and some would spend a lifetime working against it was well known to Jesus who when speaking of the thoughts of one man who had been long dead and wishing others in his family could be warned of the results of unbelief said, "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." (Luke 16: 29) Un-deterred Christ went to his excruciating death on the cross knowing that the salvation of untold millions was dependent upon it.

That is why people who have caught the full meaning of Christ's selfless act rarely ever take comparative religions very seriously. What can be compared to this act of mercy? Even if you don't have a single inkling of the major Christian doctrines this thing known as "substitutionary atonement" is the single greatest event that the earth has ever been graced with and it will always be.

Even though no one likes to be pigeon holed, yet it seems we all are, regardless. Politics has its liberals, conservatives, libertarians and a few more. Astrology has twelve neat little categories for everyone. Psychiatry has its list of well known pathologies for just about everyone. Christ put everyone in the world into one of four separate categories.

In the parable of the seed and the sower (Mt 13) Jesus said everyone in this world would fit into one of those four categories after they heard the simple gospel of salvation. 1. The message gets snatched away quickly and they go on with their lives. 2. They receive it but have no depth and let it go after a while. 3. They assent to the message but worldly pursuits choke out any chance of its solid rooting. 4. Some allow it to re-frame everything in their lives and become productive for the Kingdom of God.

Ensuant to this great parable is another that is less spoken of but no less important. Jesus said the sower cast his seed across the fields (world) but as he slept an enemy (Satan) came and cast tares (weeds) into the same fields which sprung up overnight.

Being comforted by the ability to dismiss the claims of Christ on their lives, people are even less willing to admit that another might have a claim on their lives. The ruler of this world (Satan) is not so unwilling to proclaim his right to rule (all those who won't let Christ rule) and his ongoing activities as the present ruler of the cosmos (world system of evil.) (Mt 4: 1-11)

Satan is also a sower and he leaves behind a healthy crop of weeds that grow up right alongside the children of the Kingdom. The result of these weeds is apparent. They represent far too many diverse lifestyles and philosophies to list here but among them are the founders, originators and the followers of other religions. Surprised, don't be; this is rudimentary.

In an effort to keep from being accused of being excessively redundant I am forced to say the same things over and over but in the proverbial form of "other words." Here is my latest offering of other words on the fact that Satan as the "deceiver of the nations" has both the ability and the willingness to use religion to divert men away from their own salvation.

This time I will phrase this principle in the form of a challenge. I will give you the rest of your life (But please keep it down to a month or so) to find a single verse in the Bible that indicates that Satan has to stop short of anything marked as a religion in his effort to deceive the entire world. Let me help you, such verses do not exist.

In fact from the ancient days to this moment in time he (Satan) has provided false religions, idols and nonexistent gods for anyone who is willing to go with them. The Greeks and Romans created so many gods that they had to create a temple to the "unknown god" (Acts 17: 23) just in case they may have missed one.

Civilizations far more ancient than the Greeks and Romans had plenty of idols that were taken so seriously, that people regularly offered their children as sacrifices to appease these false deities. In modern Hindu and some of the animistic religions of Africa there are millions of gods. How can you go wrong with so many choices? The Bible says these deities were indirectly causing men and women to worship devils and demons. That brings us back to the tares.

Satan is not called the arch deceiver for nothing. Not only does he keep us from believing in God's salvation through Jesus Christ but for those whose religious proclivities must still be satisfied he provides a plethora of gods and avatars even if each one of them is actually connected to a demon or devil.

The purpose of all these deities is only initially to deceive but the real goal is to destroy. One of the other names for Satan besides deceiver is the destroyer. In Revelation 9: 11 both the Hebrew word Abaddon and the Greek word Apollyon are used as names for Satan; both mean "the destroyer." You do the math.

What then, is he destroying? The earth is still intact and most of the institutions of man are alive and well. Here's the rub, what is being destroyed is each person's future destiny.

How unique is Satan's last day's deception? As the return of Christ approaches we find that at last he has convinced men that all religions are legitimate and should all be allowed into our culture. But he doesn't stop there. Now it is becoming socially unacceptable to speak against another religion and in some nations it is already becoming a criminal act to refute or deny the veracity or authenticity of another's religion. Enter political correctness.

I would be remiss if I said that was all there is to this final deception. Remember the meaning of the words Abaddon and Apollyon. Satan's deceptions are not complete until they reach their ultimate goal, which again is, destruction.

Just when everyone has reached the maximum comfort stage in their acceptance of all world religions the world's last dictator will make them all illegal. He will replace them all with the worship of only one deity, one savior and one man and that man is himself. The price of refusing to worship this deity will be your life.

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." (2Th 2: 3, 4)

Perhaps the most amazing thing about this last day's prophecy is that the man spoken of here is actually Satan in the flesh. Just as Christ was the actual incarnation of the living God, or God in the flesh, this man of sin is the incarnation of the Devil. This deception beats all that preceded it hands down. Those who refuse to worship the God that created them will willingly end up worshipping the god that will destroy them.

Is there any way out if this dilemma? Yes, but it is the same way you've heard all along. If you have previously rejected it let me urge you to reconsider. Christ loves you and has become your personal doorway out of destruction and into his presence. To wit:

"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep." (Jn 10: 9-11)

Single Payer 3, It's Not About the Money, and That's the Problem

The technique of a mass movement aims to infect people with a malady and then offer the movement as a cure. Eric Hoffer

Obamacare and Single Payer have one very important thing in common. Neither is about medical care, although one is about money. As I have discussed extensively, Obamacare is a political payoff designed to shift the burden of paying for medical care from the administrations allies(unions and big business) to the politically weak(states, young workers, and small businesses). Single Payer, on the other hand, is a philosophy regarding the role of government applied to the healthcare market. The motivation of it's advocates is neither economic nor tied to the health of Americans. Single Payer is a remedy for a fundamental failure of American society, the unequal access to healthcare.

The academics and political progressives who support Single Payer are motivated by the concept of "fairness." To these true believers, ensuring fair and equal access across economic, social and racial classes is both a moral imperative and the primary goal of government. The inescapable inequality of our free market medical care is a moral outrage in itself, independent and completely divorced from actual medical outcomes. The fact that wealth can purchase better doctors, hospitals and drugs is seen as a violation of basic human rights.

Guaranteeing fairness across all levels of society dictates the need for central control of spending, resource allocation, and choices about medical care. This philosophy mandates that if a treatment is available to one, it must be available to all. More importantly, even if the one can afford better care, it is unacceptable to purchase it, at least within the governing country. This rationale justifies countries like Great Britain and Canada to denying expensive drugs to cancer patients, making patients wait six months to see a specialist, or supporting euthanasia.

Of course, top down allocation of resources can also substantially reduce medical costs. Rationing is easier, more efficient and less arbitrary when performed on a national basis. However it is crucial to understand that for many supporters, cost is secondary to the overarching goal of fairness. Those discussing healthcare policy are frequently unaware of the depth of the chasm separating the many sides in this argument. Many of the supporters of Single Payer see it as a crusade to repair American society. In contrast some conservatives see Single Payer as a Communist plot, but most people just view it as an alternative insurance structure.

My biggest problem with healthcare reform is the duplicity and deceit that has characterized the discussion from all sides of the issue. Politicians, pundits, and advocates are actively deceiving the American people about their true goals and motivations. Single Payer advocates are guilty as well. They are using a financial justification to impose their political philosophy which may be antithetical to a majority of Americans. Solving our healthcare problems will not be easy or cheap, but at the very least, the real motivations of this movement need to be understood by everyone.

Social Work Continuing Education Information And Facts

It takes a unique type of man or woman to dedicate their career and professional life to social work. Continuing education and maintaining current licenses is just a small part of their position, but is an essential step to keeping their accreditation up-to-date. This article outline a few of the key points about continuing education in the field and why it is so important for the individual to stay abreast of the information and license renewal.

As someone that is employed in the field of social work, these classes are your responsibility. You can look to education boards and even your employer for direction, but the ultimate task of applying for and maintaining current licensure in your field is completely up to you. Individual requirements vary according to jurisdiction and you must take the time to make yourself aware of what these particular requirements may be.

For many men and women keeping up with license renewal for social work, continuing education involves taking certain courses along the way. Keep in mind that not all courses are created equal and you often get what you pay for. Be wary of courses that advertise dramatically reduced fees or do not offer to provide attendance records to licensing boards. Once you complete a course you should receive a signed certificate indicating your successful completion, attendance records for every day that you were present, as well as proof of qualification of instructors, consultants, and other educational personnel. All of these items are important to present to the licensing board when validating or renewing your social workers accreditation. Once again, all of these requirements are the responsibility of the social worker and must be kept track of by the individual that is looking to advance their education and renew their license.

There are a number of other things that help set some courses far above and beyond their competitors. It would be in your best interest to choose continuing education that offers a lot of assistance from other social workers in the program, provides evaluation forms and procedures that are easy to understand and learn from, and offers relevant content with a general outline or syllabus. The course should also state the educational goals and learning objectives, with tangible ways of evaluating progress as the course unfolds. There are a number of online courses also available that are convenient to attend and easy to pay for. These may be viable options for busy professionals with numerous home and career commitments.

It is important to keep all of these factors in mind when considering social work continuing education. Be responsible for keeping yourself aware of the requirements of license renewal and choose a course that exceeds the Association of Social Work Board's Approved Continuing Education requirements. In this way, you will keep yourself on track in a fulfilling career for years to come.

Conspiracy Theory As Political Philosophy and Ideology

As any Philosopher of Science will tell you formal theories serve as explanations to observed phenomena, an association between the explanandum - the object of phenomena to be explained; and the explanans - the framework, concept or theory to be used as an the reference point for explanation. Pioneers in philosophy of Science such as Hempel coined this logic inference to the best explanation.

Employing a Meta theory that explains a form of social reality and existence has long been the goal of Philosophers who propagate abstract thinking and rules of logic to define and set the boundaries of ontology and epistemology. In Political Philosophy one often has the espousing of an Ideology: A set of ideas that best serve to explain political and social phenomena and thus attempting a correlation between the theory used in explanation with that of the "goings on" observed. For long periods in history Philosophers and Social Scientists have debated whether Liberalism, Marxism, Anarchism, Structuralism or Methodological Individualism best serve as theoretical explanations of social reality.

In this same instance we find Ideologists today who advocate Conspiracy Theory. Like so many others in the realm of theoretical and philosophical explanation they too employ ideal frameworks that account for observed phenomena. Regardless of the aspects that encompass specific conspiracy theories, whether they are single point conspiracy theories like 911 or Meta conspiracy theories of the New World Order, they all occupy the spectrum of political ideology. This is because they advocate an explanation for observed phenomena. As where Marxism does it through the lens of capitalism and its dialectic with the human essence, Liberalism through inalienable individual property rights, conspiracy theorists do it through the lens of an esoteric operating cabal - for instance a horde of business and political agents responsible for 911 and its cover up.

All these ideologies execute the same cognitive apparatus when examining social data. They have a target point to explain and go out about it by utilizing their philosophical and ideological perspective and beliefs to explain the phenomena at hand and simultaneously reinforce their belief system in a circularity manner. Once can examine 911 from various stand points including the official explanation stated by the U.S Government or from the perspective of both Meta conspiracy and single point conspiracy theory. It is worth noting that often proposed theories have to take into account competing theories, and thus in effect explain them too. Here conspiracy theorists would argue that the Ideologies of both Liberalism and Democratic Government are facilitated by the ruling elite to distract us from the real "goings on" at hand.

One of the most significant indicators of Conspiracy Theory as Ideology is its remedy for the perceived problem; the way out of the turmoil and into a utopian future akin to the Marxist proposal for the future design of society and mankind. Ironically it is here where Conspiracy Theory shares its most identifiable resonance with the established philosophies of Liberalism and Marxism.

Certain conspiracy theorists such as Alex Jones cry out for the Republicanism of the founding fathers of the American constitution - intended to safeguard the individual rights of citizens from ever intrusive Government legislation. This is an obvious parallel with Liberalism and Anarchism yet not attributed as one due to the predisposed schema that Liberalism is a conspiratorial design. Then we have the utopian future of a collective society void of greed and ego to better mankind and society against the tide of corporatism and the concentration of power in Government as advocated by David Icke. This is an obvious appeal, whether subconscious or not, to Anarcho-Communism.

Yet it is these political and social aspirations of Conspiracy Theory that presents it in the light of ideology: the analyzing of socio-political phenomena with theories of causations and justification as well as proposals for future change. Conspiracy Theory is also the political ideology of the disengaged and of the fringe. As previous Socialist, Feminist and Civil Rights movements were motivated by the disenfranchised in society at the time, we now have conspiracy theorists disillusioned with globalization, Sovereign centralization and free market economics to the point where they can no longer follow or assert the dominant paradigms of the modern world, especially when associated with the official accounts of 911. They therefore find solace in a theory that explains the current state of affairs to them in a more appealing manner with the possibility of change - the same as any other political ideology.
